FAQS

Who can be a tree designer?

Anyone! If you want to make a difference in your community and showcase your creativity this is the perfect opportunity!  You can design a 6' tree, a 3' tree, or even a wreath.  Check out the Designer Guidelines for more details.

What is the purpose of the Festival?

The Festival of Trees has three purposes:

  1. To develop support and community appreciation of Western Youth Network through a community-wide holiday event.

  2. To promote community volunteerism in support of Western Youth Network.

  3. To provide revenue to support the programs of Western Youth Network. Your donation helps fill our mission, “To build kids of character and confidence so that every person in the High Country reaches their full potential.”

Are the trees live?

Our beautiful live trees are donated by the Watauga County Tree Growers Association, and are gathered from local farms.  If you are one of the lucky auction winners and can't use the tree itself, you are welcome to take the decorations and gifts, and we will donate the tree to one of our WYN families!

What happens if I win an item in the auction?

Once the auction concludes on Sunday afternoon, you’ll receive notification from the auction site that you are the lucky winner. You’ll need to pick up your tree or wreath Sunday afternoon before 6pm. While the ornaments are wired onto the tree, you’ll want to remove any fragile ones for safe transport in a box. Volunteers are on site and will wrap your tree, ornaments and all, and help you load the tree in your vehicle for transport to your home.

Can I have my tree delivered?

New this year — Packing and delivery service! For a $150 donation, volunteers will pack associated gifts and fragile ornaments, wrap and deliver your trees within a 20 mile radius of Chetola. Though our volunteers will take utmost care, you’ll need to waive all liability for any damage/loss that may occur.

How can I support the Festival of Trees?

You can become a Festival Sponsor, a Tree Designer, or volunteer at the Event.  And, of course, you can attend the Festival, bring lots of friends, and bid on trees and wreaths!
